Higher Education Events

As an Academic Support Assistant at Northeastern University, I was responsible for planning key student events such as Orientations, TOEFL Exams and End of Term Receptions across Winter, Spring and Summer semesters.

Liaising with university operations and admissions teams, my team in the Global Pathways and American Classroom division successfully delivered these events and maintained the high standard the Northeastern community expected.

Similarly to Northeastern, I was tasked to ensure Open Days and Information Evenings for prospective students were informative and inspiring at Glasgow Caledonian University for the Business School.

As well as ensuring all academics and colleagues were informed of the running of the sessions, I was responsible for recruiting student helpers to be on hand to answer attendees questions and facilitate campus tours.

Music Events

During my time working as event staff for the Vale Bar, I was given the opportunity to put on my own music event. Using my local contacts, I set up V Club, a night to showcase Glasgow’s upcoming bands and talent.

Subcrawl

I had always wanted to participate in an official Glasgow Subcrawl but the idea of all day drinking and potential carnage can be off-putting to some!

I put on my own Subcrawl for a close group of friends – carefully selecting new hotspots, old classics and some well deserved rest stops – including Govan’s Big Feed and St Enoch’s newly opened Boom Battle Bar.

I made lanyards for all attendees, displaying a map of the Glasgow Subway, list of chosen stops and a quiz answer sheet on the back, for when we did a little Glasgow Subway quiz between stops.

Birthdays

Your birthday is the one time a year where you can go all out and celebrate you!

For my 30th, I wanted to organise a party filled with colour, old school tunes and classic party fun.

I was able to have total control over the decorations, entertainment and cocktail menu - all thanks to the help of the team at 91B Private Venue in Glasgow, highly recommended!
